The results for the UK’s General Election of 2019 are in—the Conservative Party won the race with a historical majority. This means that Prime Minister Boris Johnson will remain in his position for the next 5 years.
In his speech today on Downing Street, he promised to get the UK out of the EU by January 31st, “no ifs or buts”. He also promised to improve the UK’s health services and infrastructure among many other things.
US President Donald Trump congratulated Johnson on his win and indicated that we are likely to see a new trade deal between the UK and the US.
Johnson set the bar high for his parliament but all of his promises are what the people asked for. In the past, Johnson was criticized for lying to the public because he personally disagreed with his own words. But despite the scandals, he is doing what the people are asking him to do. He said what the politicians need to remember is that the people are the bosses (Sky News).
Having a majority in Parliament now will also help him to finally deliver what the people have asked for.
